I think it likely that you have not grasped the extent to which the players can make the game. Or maybe you are not familiar with the classic text-mode type of game known as a MUD, a Multi-User Dungeon, and in particular with the typical power of its clients? In essence the MUD server is an API, an Application Program Interface, designed to be human-readable so that humans can themselves act just like an Application, interfacing with it. Thus for example you could, as a Civilisation within the Galactic Milieu, obtain large numbers of player-accounts, breed characters with which to populate them, build idealised areas for them to work, eat, sleep, drink and so on within, provide triggers and macros for popular MUD clients or even whip up your own mobile client which hides all the text-mode commands behind Graphical User Interface clickable / touchable buttons, and instead of simply running the characters full-auto 24/7 make them available to the kind of users you seem to envision. Though really if you are going to simplify it that much for them why not go the whole way, fully automating the characters so the user need not do pointless keypresses or touches at all, after all what is the point of having a computer if it cannot even play some over-simplified stupid mindless game for you, relieving you of the tedium? You could rent out fully automated factories full of workers that your customers need never deal with nor worry about how they work, they just buy a factory and you have chatGPT or whatever AI run them for you, take a cut, and send the customer regularly the remaining profits? Though again, why the customer at all? Is it simply to provide you with the startup capital to initially build the factory and script its workers and train the AI? Are they customers or players at all at that point, or simply investors loaning you capital to get yourself in business in the Milieu? -MarkM-
