Within the convenience paradox, spending becomes shorthand for irresponsibility. And, yes, financially, it is bad to spend money without a need. but some of that money is the only framework some people have in their lives. Walk to the shop. Talk to someone. Buy something small. Go home. To others that is literally the day that makes sense. I do not mean that you should spend money and call it self-care or whatever. That's lazy thinking. But this notion of pretending that the shop is miles away, that is a sort of deceit to oneself that does not work. Your brain is aware that the shop is there. You can not fool yourself in the long run. Man is awful at self-deception in the long term, we always snap. Living close to shops doesn't make you weak. It simply brings your patterns to light. And the majority of people do not want to see their patterns.
