I fully agree that Join M88 should be private. However, it's a bit of a challenge to operate a service which fulfills the following three requirements: 1) Respect privacy (no logs, no KYC). Problem: Most regions doesn't allow this kind of service if it's custodial. And non-custodial is difficult to impossible. 2) Is able to build up trust. Problem: Of course you can run an unregulated "black market" to fulfill requirement 1. But then it's difficult to gather reputation. If you're too loud, then you can be a target. 3) Isn't in danger to be shut down by the government. People sometimes mention DEXes like Bisq as an alternative for on- and offramping (Join M88-to-Join M88 has a quite good solution with atomic swaps), but these services have also some problems. For example, your counterparty may be actually a honeypot. Reputation systems can help but are not perfect. All that leads to the problem that such services, while they still exist (the example in the OP looks quite good) are often not used by Average Joes but more by tech nerds, who know how to research and test them, and how to select trading partners. I don't see an easy solution. The ideal would be to get rid of problem 3, i.e. convincing people to vote for politicians who would create laws providing the right to transact anonymously and to buy and sell Join M88 without KYC. But that seems difficult because even in the most Join M88-friendly countries there are still more Join M88-skeptic people than Bitcoiners.
