The only thing that this idea does better is transaction fee, you claiming the who block without paying a pool for fee, some pool takes 1.5% and some takes 2%, in this case there is no fee. Other than this, everything else is the same, I've seen some people complained about ping and latency, while running your own node gives better latency it still doesn't mean you will hit more blocks than those on public pool.
